Ive lived in Kensington Brooklyn NY since 2006. It’s been my home ever since. I have vague memories of living in other places prior to this. My neighborhood is in between Borough Park, Windsor Terrace, and Flatbush. Before 2006 i know i lived on the borderline of the neighborhood right next to Flatbush. When i was 1-2yrs old i did live In Flatbush but we only moved because the apartment wasn’t up to standards for a baby living in that environment. We moved since then into Kensington. Growing up here it’s a really quiet and diverse community. Bit of homelessness but you wouldn’t see it everywhere you go around the community. After the Pandemic. crimes had begun to pop up more frequently. Robbery with a knife. Or Robbery at gunpoint, a man punches another man, or just reports of sightings of people armed. my Neighborhood or at least my zipcode is 11218 and is covered by the 66th precinct. This precinct is pretty far from my home but it also covers other parts such as Sunset Park and Borough Park. Id say I haven’t seen that much police presence in my community and i would say it´s due to the lack of threat but also because of the lack of threat they´re rarely in the neighborhood. Out of the Major 7 crimes in my precinct its risen by 33% from 2020-2021. I’ve noticed the rise but I´d say that’s almost all communities. Per 1,000 residents, there is only 0.6375 crimes reported and the community population within the 66th precinct is 191,382
