In my paper I will be discussing the way gentrification is progressing in more urban neighborhoods through the use of advertisement and exposure to ‘inclusive cultures and neighborhoods. When looking for an apartment the first thing people do is look at the outside of the building and the surrounding area determining safety, accessibility and activity. Especially on the Lower East Side with rapid new developments and night life it is a breeding ground for new permanent residents that are out of touch the community, increase of drug activity and safety issues and forcing out the locals who have been accustomed to this area for decades. New developments such as movie theaters, restaurants, bars and lounges are driving up the price of surroundings homes enticing people with views of the city, night life and accessibility to transportation or parking, leaving out the heavy public exposure to drug use and homelessness.
