The crime rate in New York has increased all over the five boroughs. According to the New York Times burglary and other crimes had a 22 percent increase in major crime in New York City compared to last year. Robbery has been a major crime a lot of innocent people have been victims of getting their belongings taken away at knifepoint or gunpoint. Many even have been killed as a result of being a victim. Bushwick, Brooklyn is a residence of a majority of Hispanic and African Americans. It is considered to be the 7th poorest neighborhood in NYC. Making a lot of local businesses feel unsafe from bodega owners to jewelry shops they are the main targets. Also, many residents have become frustrated with the police because they reported it and then there is no follow-up, and the criminal is never caught.
