Title: The Barriers of Flatbush

Throughout the years, Flatbush has become divided. After you cross Ocean Avenue, the vibes shift entirely. From a gentrified new Brooklyn to vibrant Caribbean roots. Don't let the gentrification fool you; their still issues. From over-policing to a rise in crime, many issues must be dealt with. There has been a 56% increase in crime at the start of the year. However, when I walk down the streets in my neighborhood, im seeing a cop car on every block, but crime keeps occurring. Having cops on the street is not preventing crime, and a better solution must be implemented. Two months back, someone tried to take my mother bag and failed. This is just a small example of whats going on; we need the community to come together and make solutions that we deem to work.
