RESEARCH QUESTION: How has gentrification affected Bedford-Stuyvesant and how has it impacted the social class and economy of this specific neighborhood?
The reason why I chose this specific neighborhood is that I reside in the neighborhood but also because I have noticed how gentrification has impacted the neighborhood as well. Many of the residents have lived in this neighborhood for years and historically this neighborhood is recognized as a predominantly black neighborhood, but just like so many other neighborhoods, Bed-Stuy has experienced a lot of changes primarily due to shifting population demographics. amid the transformation that the neighborhood is going through, many of the lifelong residents are being pushed out just because everything has gotten so expensive to the point that they cannot afford it.
