After listening to the podcast “Ear Hustle: EPISODE 2: MISGUIDED LOYALTY” the theory that relates to Tommy Shakur Ross is social learning, Tommy Shakur Ross grew up in South Central Los Angles in the 1980’s. As a boy, he was seduced by what he saw as the “glamour” of gang life. He learned this lifestyle by watching others actions and being surrounded by this type of this behavior. He didn’t have the greatest support system and was a rebel. The basis of social learning theory is simple: People learn by watching other people. Tommy learned the bad things instead of the good and that was his downfall and now he’s been in prison for so long, eventually when he realized his mistake and surrounded himself with people that can help him his mentality changed and sees how things could of been different if he had a mentor and education. It’s too late now because he’s in prison but at least his mentality changed and this shows how social theory can be a negative thing and a positive thing.
