I’ve been monitoring news articles for the past two weeks on social media as well as press stories of the above news stories which are concerning to me. In the first article, several people were indicted in the attacks of 2 N.Y.P.D. Officers. Thus far, two (2) individuals have been put in a 48 hour span. 5 people died in gun violence across NYC the N;ew York City Mayor Eric Adams said he’s had enough of it. In the third article, In the Mount Hope Section of The Bronx, 2 rival gangs open fire on each other hitting 6 people, 1 of them died. In the final article, The Kansas City Chiefs Parade Mass Shooting left 1 person dead, and 22 people injured, including 11 children.
The crimes that were on the news were shootings, drive-by shootings, subway shootings, and assaults. Shootings are the crime that is reported the most. Mass shootings definitely get more media attention than other single murders or shootings. I think crime reporting takes up a large portion of the news that is reported on a daily basis.
