Welcome to Week 14!
Dear students,
We are in the penultimate week of the Fall 2022 semester! This is the last full week of classes.
This week we are focusing on critical and feminist criminologies. Please make sure to visit Week 14 unit and participate in Discussion Forum 14.
Exam 3 is behind you but Exam 4 is coming up (due date December 18th). It will only cover this week’s materials (and some labeling theories questions).
You will now work on Short Assignment #4. You will post this last assignment in OpenLab, just like how you did it for the past three assignments. If you have submitted Short Assignment #1, Short Assignment #2, and Short Assignment #3, you are left with just one more assignment. If you haven’t, please do so as soon as possible. December 18th is the last deadline to submit any missing work.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have office hours today and on Tuesday and Thursday. Stop by if you have any questions on the past three short assignments or anything else.

I can also meet with you via ZOOM by appointment.
Midweek Update
Dear students,
I have just finished looking at your hard work in this class. I have graded all your work. Good job to the 8 students who submitted Short Assignment 3. It is not too late to submit your work if you haven’t done so earlier. If you received less than 50/50 on your Short Assignment 3, please take a look at my comment and update your post accordingly (and then email me).
Tomorrow, your Exam 3 will become available. You will have until Sunday, December 4th to take it. After this week, you will have one more assignment, a discussion form (or two), and Exam 4. Please get in touch with me if you need any help with any assignment.
It is Monday!
Dear students,
We are still in Week 12, as I thought it made no sense to start a whole new unit. We will pick up a new unit the following week.
Meanwhile, please continue contributing to the forum and working on the assignments. I will start grading the submissions soon.
I will have my regular office hours today at 1 pm and on Tuesday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. These days, I am also available on ZOOM: https://bmcc-cuny.zoom.us/j/3772687009
I can also meet with you via ZOOM by appointment.
Friday check-in
How are you all doing? Getting ready for Halloween?
Just a few reminders:
- Exam 2 is on Blackboard, deadline 11:59 pm this Sunday 10/30
- Short Assignment 2 is overdue but you can still submit it without penalty
- Make sure to participate in Discussion Forum 9 by Sunday
I will be on ZOOM on Monday if you need any help.
Extra-Credit Event
Careers in the Courts will be held next week, on November 3rd at 5:30pm via Zoom! Students should register in advance to attend at https://bit.ly/3guieumnow. Panelists who will be speaking to students are:

Dear students,
I have just finished grading your Exam 1s. You all did quite well. When you look at your grade, note that it is calculated out of 80 and not 100. Once you have checked your Exam 1 grade on Blackboard, I would like you to check your other grades. I have graded Short Assignment 1 and discussion forums 1-5. If you notice a grade is missing for any assignment, please let me know.
I have recorded a short video explaining Short Assignment 2. Please take a look and let me know if you need any assistance or further clarification. Short Assignment 2 is due October 16th.
