Assignment #4

I believe that banning traffic stops like in these particular cities will bring changes to the affected communities because they will no longer have to deal with or feel targeted when they are driving. Impacted communities will feel more at ease because of them having less misselaineous interaction with police officers. On the other hand, the justice system may contend that banning traffic stops can be dangerous due to the reason that they feel like people could be getting away with trafficking either of drugs or weapons or other related crimes but overall banning traffic stops is a positive for both parties because traffic stops are most dangerous for the driver that’s being stopped especially for a driver of color and for police officers traffic stops are always a source of contention due to their record and notoriety that they have built.

Assignment #3

he social learning theory is the best theory to explain Tommy Shakur Ross’ involvement in gangs and crime. The social learning theory is best at describing what happened to Ross because Ross’ socialization into delinquent and criminal activities stemmed from his peer relations. Ross came from a very established and well-structured family. Both of his parents were in the household; they were professionals and devout Baptists; his father was a minister, and his mother was a secretary. The friends that Ross began to associate himself with and befriend are what led to his demise in gang affiliations and crime. Ross recalls the time the gangbangers robbed him of his tacos and beat him up, and from there, he decided to join a gang. One of his close friends was in a gang, and this friend took Ross under his wing. According to social learning theory, people learn techniques or how to commit crimes from their peers. Ross said that he followed in the footsteps of his gang, committing petty crimes like purse snatching and robbery. Still, he eventually wanted to achieve more violent crime like the older individuals in the gangs.

Short Assignment #2

This is the gate outside of my apartment building. This gate is really helpful because it creaks when it’s opened and closed so when someone enters or leave, I could peak out of the window to see who it is.

This is a street light on my block. One thing that my block could have more of are street lights because it is pretty dark on my block and more lighting will make it a lot more comfortable.
This is the camera system underneath the balconies of the third apartments. This is a good location because you can see everything in the entrance clearly and at the back of the stairwells where the trash is stored.

This article is about the cost of the Navy SEAL training program and how its training literally pushes its soldiers to their breaking points. The article follows a soldier named Kyle Mullen who joined the Navy SEALs, which is a special task force that only the strongest, toughest, and fittest get to join. The phrase “survival of the fittest” is truly lived up to because Kyle Mullen died right after he completed his Navy SEAL training. After he had passed away it was found that he was using performance enhancement drugs throughout his training, other trainees that survived the grueling training have said that without using drugs they would have not made it through the training. The obstacles courses that the soldiers are put through is so intense that after they done it is a common sight to see trainees coughing up blood and struggling because of the fluid in their lungs. This is what occurred to Mullen while he was training, and Mullen isn’t the first soldier to go through the Navy SEALs training and die. The Navy has scaled back some of the obstacle’s courses but it remains the same as it has always been.
