Summary

I believe we should ban minor vehicular stops because there hasn't been no positive effect in vehicle stops. In my opinion vehicle stops has had a negative effect on not only our community but nation wide. I believe this is because officers are not conducting their stop based on any traffic violations, they are simply racial profiling and it has to be stopped. Many man and women have lost their lives due to a traffic stop because a cop said they saw a gun or the person wasn't cooperating. What I do not understand is if you are pulling some one over for a traffic stop for example maybe their back light is out why would your first instinct be to pull out your gun. I know as a officer your life is in jeopardy the Moment you put on that uniform but it also does not mean that citizens life should be in jeopardy as well especially in the hands of some one who is supposed to protect us. Sean bell who was set to get married was killed a day before his wedding by officers who claim to have seen a gun. When the investigation was completed there was no gun found. Banning traffic stops would be ideal but what would be better is training these officers to not run for their gun unless their is a serious threat to their lives. We are in 2022 owning a gun is very typical so that should not be a reason for officers to shoot or to do any illegal activity during a stop. I understand the benefits of a traffic stop such as stopping drugs from entering the United States or arresting fugitives but I also believe if something is doing more harm than good than it needs to be banned.
