Hello everyone,
I’m Dr. Satenik Margaryan, and I’ll be your instructor for this course. I’ve been teaching Criminal Justice since 2001. I’m an assistant professor at Borough Manhattan Community College in the Criminal Justice Program, Department of Social Sciences, Human Services, and Criminal Justice. Over the years, I’ve taught most courses in the Criminal Justice major at BMCC.
I’m thrilled to have you all in this class, and I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you better. Let me share a bit about myself – I’m originally from Armenia, a small and beautiful landlocked country in Western Asia, surrounded by Iran, Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. At 21, I came to the US to pursue my studies. I earned my MPA (Masters in Public Administration) from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) and later obtained my Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University in 2007.
Currently, I reside in New Jersey, specifically in Bloomfield, a town only 20 miles away from BMCC. I commute by train. At home, I have two boys who keep me busy and filled with joy, a dog Willabelle and a cat Lionel. We love spending quality time together by traveling, camping, biking, exploring NYC, and being active.
I’m excited about our journey ahead and can’t wait to learn and grow together in the coming weeks. Let’s embark on this educational adventure together – I’m confident it will be both enjoyable and rewarding. If you have any questions or thoughts, don’t hesitate to reach out. See you in class!
Warm regards,
Dr. Satenik Margaryan
