Tommy Shakur engagement in gang and criminal activity was more of a call for help and an imitation of what he seen. There is a learning theory that basically demonstrates people express behaviors they are taught or that’s there for them to see. They absorb the wrong things and believe that they are doing the right thing. Doing the wrong thing had benefits in his world because status brings respect and money! So he absorbed the benefits not whether he was doing the right or wrong thing. In addition to that I believe labeling theory before he acted on his deviant ways he was already labeled by his surrounding. He had a sign above his head before his actions.
Analysis: Identifies a cause an effect. Shakur visually seen wrong doings that he believed it was right. He seen how selling drugs, gang activities, and crime brought him status, money and respect so he utilized it to his extent of power.
