Kymaunie Bowen- Short assignment #4

I do not believe that we must rethink how we enforce traffic laws in cities and suburbs because I believe that traffic stops are very effective in policing but I do believe that traffic stop training should be more implemented throughout a police officer’s career and not just the academy. I believe traffic stops do deter unsafe driving because it can cause people to be more aware and cautious now that they are in a police officer’s presence. Also I believe there are less of drunk driving instances thanks to these traffic stops and save countless of lives. I believe half and half that banning traffic stops in the major cities will bring positive changes to the justice system and the affected communities. I believe that if traffic stops were banned , people predominantly black and brown would be less targeted in these traffic stops and it can help with community trust but at the same time I do believe the use of traffic stops do get drunk drivers away from the wheel and hardened criminals who may be carrying all kinds of contraband off the streets.
