The representation of different types of crimes in the media, criminal justice system, and public discourse can change widely and is influenced by several factors. I undercover this week’s news has been deeply covered in crime such as drugs. The drug rate in our country and specially our city has increased significantly. These stories have intrigued readers and has them come back for more. One that stood out for me was the death of the 1 year old caused by exposure of fentanyl in a day care. It saddened my heart to see things like this still happen in our city. The pain the mother most be going through. She trusted that her child would be safe in that place and for something so sad to happen like is overwhelming. To think we wouldn’t know anything that is happening without media coverage and media coverage through social media.
