Barry Schwartz in his TEDTalk is concluding that key to happiness is having low expectations in life. He supports this through providing examples such as having too many options in one’s life exceeds our expectation. With such expectations, we’ll always be less satisfied with our final choice as there are too many opportunities and options that can be better. We’ll end up blaming ourselves and feel terrible if we want everything to be perfect.

The article by Cory Stieg is concluding that money isn’t really the source of happiness. The premises are people with higher salary are not happy or happier than people with lower income. People feel comfortable and contented when their basic needs are there. After that, it’s really not the materialistic things or money itself but helping others, spending time with your loved ones, gaining experiences, things like these that really make you happy.

I believe money can guarantee happiness generally because there’s a cost to pay for everything. You can get rid of any discomfort. You need money to be able to help someone and have fun. Whether it’s temporary or permanent, you feel comfortable at your space and there are fewer things to be worried about. Money may not bring happiness to some but it surely doesn’t bring grief or sadness to anyone.
