Money is considered to rule the world it’s a major part of the way we live our everyday lives, although being materialistic is often times looked down upon its okay to admit that being financially stable is necessary in being happy as it reduces the barriers and struggles you may endure. When looking at the different articles I decided to choose “In “From the ‘perfect’ salary to keeping up with the Joneses, here’s how money really affects your happiness” by Cory Stieg as I feel like the message being shown connects to the real world we live in. The author states that although money does not define happiness, people are ideally much happier when they do have money. Although we like to say that money isn’t everything most of our daily needs cost money hence having your finances in order is the ideal situation. Where as the TED talk is in regards to the opportunities given to us in society, it grants us many possibilities but in having that it serves as a handicap– and cripples us from freedom as we become dependent. I agree with that, although its always good to get have resources and opportunities open to you, when you’re given everything so easily you do not fight for anything. You settle for being lazy for just accepting things, and you cannot truly be proud of something you didn’t earn. The most gratifying things is to work towards your successes. Personally I think money brings material happiness, temporary happiness, it brings stability and the ability to fend for yourself and treat yourself but in saying that there are other non materialistic things that make you happy long term, such as family, such as love… happiness is not definitive and it is subjective according to whole you ask.
