Lourdes Cuautle – Conversation 1

Critical thinking is to analyze things and improve further thinking to create choices. The first speaker of Gary Meegan definition of critical thinking is the art of analyzing and evaluating thinking with the view to improvement it. It is a small sentence that says a lot. It is broken down into two parts like one is how seeing the world is and think. It is important because the way you think is how other people try to understand others. Plus, the more you understand how others think the more you can create choice on how you think yourself. The second speaker defines critical thinking as teaching how to think and not what to think. It is not art; it is more design. It is more creative and teaches them how to solve problems. According to the video, “How to question things rigorously, how to form sound, well-reasoned, coherent thought and arguments and critically how to identify bullshit.” This illustrates that being wrong could be a good thing to learn from mistakes. It is important because the way the system was created means that kids are only told they are wrong or right but do not understand why. He wanted to create a new way to advertise some logical fallacy so kids would understand better. To market education and make it fun so students would want to learn. To teach critical thinking. I agree with both speakers because critical thinking is about analyzing and understanding things. Leaning about critical thinking is important because we do use it in our life and learning at an early age could benefit us in our future.
