discussion, attached is it.
When looking online at what critical thinking is, I was introduced to the definition as being the analysis of available facts, evidence, observations, and arguments to form a judgment. The subject is complex; several different definitions exist, which generally include the rational, skeptical, and unbiased analysis or evaluation of factual evidence. When putting it into my own words and how I view it, critical thinking is the act of deep rooted thought, it’s you thinking about something intently and also connecting it to evidence. Critical thinking is the ability to analyze and interpret an idea in a way that’s well thought out and not broad. The interesting part of critical thinking is it can be defined according to the person, you can articulate it in any way you deem fit. In order to properly think critically you must be open minded and accepting of any thoughts or facts you may encounter, and you must be able to delve deep into them in order to support or go against them.
Hi Lucia,
I’d like to say I agree with your definition of Critical Thinking. Our minds are sacred and hold all that we know in life. Would you agree that critical thinking does not only refer to situations that require problem solving? By this, I mean that life and growth at fault are both critical thinking. As we age, we learn. Critical Thinking is apart of that experience we have however it would be too easy to lable a first time life experience as a problem to solve. We as individuals usually attempt to avoid problems which would mean avoid learning!
After viewing both YouTube videos, Critical Thinking is even more critical than I thought. From what I took away concerning these videos, critical thinking may seem easier while we are young. We are way more susceptible to agreeing that something happens, takes place and so much more, simply because that’s what we are told. We do not know much of anything at these ages which is why when an individual notices a child doing something not expected of them, the parent is complemented. Our minds are wondering about so much. A more clear understanding of this is: imagine both a child and an adult being asked to fix their bed in the morning. If the child has not been taught, their bed will be exactly the same when the individual returns to check it. However, the adult is expected to know how to complete this task which would allow them to complete it. The adult does not have to think too hard because. They’ve completed this task many times throughout their life, hopefully. A child is scientifically proven to give up once they feel they have no idea how to complete a task, they may even began to cry out of frustration. A child that has at least witnessed this task being done would think a little and try to make it as close as possible to the image in their memories. Googles definition of Critical Thinking is “the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgement.” However, I believe that the definition has been simply zoned. Critical thinking doesn’t only take place when we are problem solving. In my opinion, critical Thinking is the evaluation of any life event/encounter to not only solve problems but to enhance knowledge. To allow individuals to properly scientifically age. It is necessary and required. Without it, life would seem simple.
Yes, I do agree that critical thinking is much more than just thinking deeper and has a much more meaningful and impactful explanation that helps many with brainstorming and getting accurate information.
Critical thinking is the capacity to evaluate information, concepts, and arguments with objectivity in order to reach a well-founded judgment or conclusion. This is important since it enables people to make informed decisions, solve complicated issues, and assess the reliability of information and arguments. Xritical thinking is seen as a crucial talent in both educational and professional contexts. Additionally, without the ability to think critically, people could be more likely to believe erroneous or misleading information, which can have detrimental effects on both the person and society at large.
So yes, I do agree that its important because it’s
the basis of knowing what information is accurate and whatnot.
