In Brightspace, you can choose the method and frequency of notifications that you receive. Both students and instructors can choose to receive a periodic summary or instant information about activity in your courses via email and/or text message. You can also use Notifications in conjunction with the Pulse app, Brightspace’s app for mobile devices.
To edit your notification settings, click on your name at the upper right of any Brightspace page and select Notifications from the drop-down menu.
Under Contact Methods, you will find your @login.cuny.edu email address (i.e, your CUNYFirst ID) and will not have an option to change this. Email sent to this address should be forwarded to your primary campus email address.
Scrolling down to Instant Notifications, you will find a number of course activities for which you can choose to receive notifications. After making your selections, be sure to click Save at the bottom of the page to enable them.
If you would like to receive text notifcations, first click on Register your mobile number. After entering your mobile number, check the SMS boxes next to the kinds of course events that will generate text notifications for you.

Hi there. I’d like to register my work number, which receives texts via RingCentral. Which mobile carrier should I select?
Can you please include instruction on how to forward email from @cuny.login.edu to my BMCC address? Thanks!
Hi Elizabeth – The @cuny.login.edu address automatically forwards email to your preferred email address in CUNY First (usually your BMCC address).
