ACADEMIC ESSAYS
The first section of my portfolio contains three academic essays. The first piece “Being a Source of Impact” was written for the BMCC-NBCU Academic Scholarship, which I was awarded in July of 2022. The given prompt was “Why journalism?”
For the second piece, I wrote a thorough cultural psychology assessment deeply analyzing Mexican values and ideologies and how they impact Mexicans, Mexican socialization and Mexican society.
The last essay was written for an intensive grammar and literature course in Spanish, taken while studying abroad in Spain. This essay written in Spanish, sums up my experience abroad focusing on three essential parts of the Self: the mind, body, and soul.
ARTICLES
The second section of my portfolio is composed of two articles I abstracted from an independent blog I created in July of 2022. Unfortunately, due to its monetary liabilities, I had to shut down my blog, but of course, as any emotionally attached writer, I kept my pieces safe.
Article one is a Broadway show review, and article two is an opinion piece written through a philosophical and psychological approach.
POEMS
The last section of my portfolio is creative writing.
Out of the many poems I’ve written over the years, I selected two. The first poem captures and infuses the philosophical and spiritual aspects of life that are hard to make sense of tangibly. The second piece I chose is personal, abstract and holds a lot of value for me.
Poems are hard to explain, but when you read these poems, they will become yours. Then you will interpret them as you wish.
