About Me

I am Andrea Ricketts and I am a student in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program in the Teacher Education Department at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC). In the ECE program, my specialization is preschool-age children. I am Jamaican born and raised and I visit my country of birth regularly. I was always surrounded by young children because of my mother’s job and I was always enthused with how they thought and viewed the world. Although I enjoyed being around children, Education was not my career of choice until I migrated to the U.S in 2018. While doing my first job working at a daycare center, I quickly realized that I can be a positive impact on children’s lives as I help them develop holistically and I looked forward to going to work daily. I currently work at an elementary school as a Substitute Paraprofessional. After graduation, I looked forward to becoming a permanent Paraprofessional and completing of Bachelor’s Degree at Brooklyn College  In This e-Portfolio showcases my work and experiences while at BMCC. This e-portfolio contains the following information:
