Activity 1: Sign up for the OpenLab by using your BMCC email credentials (username and password). For more detailed instructions, see here.

Activity 2: Introduce yourself on our Conversations forum on the OpenLab (Instructors: create a Conversations post asking students to introduce themselves. You could ask them to include one fun fact about themselves, or to post two truths and a lie and ask classmates to guess which one is which, by commenting on their posts.)

Activity 3: Learn about your instructor. (Instructors: include a page/ tab on your OL site about you.)

Activity 4: Read, download and print (if possible) the course syllabus or course guide.

Activity 5: Complete the online learning orientation on Blackboard (we will use Blackboard for your grade book and for submitting quizzes and essays).

Activity 6: What is literacy? What does the term mean to you? Research the word “literacy.” Take notes.

Activity 7: Here is a TEDxTalk by John Trischitti titled “Literacy is the Answer.” Watch the video and take notes.

Activity 8: Review our Discussion Board rules as you prepare to submit your first post. (Here is an example.)
