Hi Everyone–I’ve graded all the midterms. I appreciate that you took what you learned in class and expanded your knowledge as you further explored your selected perspectives. Thanks! I also received a few midterm check-ins, and added up to 10 points of extra credit to your midterm projects for those. Additionally, you should have received a midterm report from me via BMCC progress reports. Congratulations to those of you who are shining in this class! If you are in danger of failing or would like to boost up your grade, please reach out.
Week 10 begins today. The focus is on the European perspectives, although we will also explore some immigration documents, and those apply to any immigrants in the US. Please submit Post 7 by the end of this unit/ Nov 2nd.
Also, here is an important reminder: your draft of the research essay is due by 11:59pm on Tuesday, Nov 9th. We will conduct the peer review in week 12, Nov 9th – Nov 16th. I will send out more information on the draft itself, but in a nutshell, there is no page requirement for the draft and the more you have the better.
Please also take the time this week to collect/ continue collecting your data for this project. Check out our page of resources here. See what your classmates are thinking, planning, asking. Post your own ideas.
Also, I will hold a research essay informational session via Zoom on Monday, November 1st, from 3PM to 3:50 PM. This is a chance to say hi to everyone, to discuss the essay, and answer any questions you may have. The first 10 minutes will be more social, followed by break out rooms dedicated to each of the 5 essay options. I will visit each room and we can go over your ideas and questions then. We will use my office hours link. I hope to see you then.
Wishing you a great week,
Prof. Barnes
