- Some examples of new literacies are, text messaging, blogging, social networking, podcasting, and videomaking.
2. one example of a new literacy that surprised me was online searching because I never thought of it that way since you just type the information you are looking for and get answers, but the more I think of it, the more it makes sense, a certain amount of reading comprehension is needed in order to understand and learn new information
3. From this week’s assigned reading I learned that technology can be harmful to users because it can negatively affect the way users try to understand what they are reading. At the same time depending on how technology is used it can be beneficial for the users.
4. From this week’s TedTalk I learned that digital literacies change over time as “traditional” literacies do. And the focus on developing Digital Literacies should be progressive and not sequential, meaning that it should be focused on people’s interests.
5. Some “new literacies” that helped me in school are text messaging and online searching, I used text messaging to get in touch with my classmates when we were working on group assignments. Online searching helped me get access to many resources.
6. I once helped my mom navigate social media apps like Facebook and Whatsapp, At one point at got used to it since she always asks me many things related to social media.
7. One new literacy that I can’t live without would be online searching because I would lose access to many sources of interest.
8. Three emojis that describe my personality: 😴🤷🤣

What’s up Santos you made a good point on how technology could affect people who are trying to understand they’re reading and all. I also can’t live without online searching either so I can kinda relate to that lol.
I really like that you pointed out online research as a new literacy. It’s something I haven’t considered either and the ability to vet a site for reputability is essential. In the age of information overload we currently live in, it makes it even more important to be able to filter out the nonsense in order to get accurate information.
Plus it was also news to me that digital literacy is best developed progressively instead of sequentially.
I really liked how you talked about online literacy and how that can affect many people and how that affects people on a daily basis.
