1. one identity that I’m proud of is being Latino because it is very diverse, I get the chance to try many different types of dishes from different cultures. Another thing that I like about being Latino is that even though most countries from central and south America and the Caribbean speak Spanish, there are times when we don’t understand each other because every country has its own way of speaking Spanish. I experienced this in high school and I had a great time with my friends comparing things from our home countries.

2. one new thing that I learned from the article “The Potential and Promise of Latino Students” is that one way to improve Latinos’ performance and achievements is through “two-way dual immersion programs”. The goal of this program is to enroll an equal amount of English speakers and English learners, therefore both groups become bilingual, bilateral, and culturally aware. This seems like an effective program however, it also requires that all teachers should be bilingual.

3. one argument that was made in the video “What Being Hispanic and Latinx Means in the United States” is that before making any opinions or assumptions about a group of people we should ask questions and inform ourselves, that we should try to understand others’ perspectives. I totally agree, because if things are spoken clearly then there can be a mutual understanding between different groups of people.
