The article “African-born Immigrants in US Schools”, shows how people will view or interact with one person and make a decision for all people based on that person. For instance, if a child of color is having an awful day at school he/she will most likely be considered a “problem child” because of their race. Not because things could be bad at home, a personal issue, discomfort, and many more reasons for he/she actions. The connection is how it doesn’t matter what nationality you are, if your skin is you will be thought of as similar to every other person of color. I see that quite often, before I realized the depth behind this comparison I often thought it was fair because we all see each other the same… Right? Many people do not realize how racist our state is and not only to the blacks but also to Chinese, Asian, Latina, etc. Choosing one person out of an entire race to describe or paint out the whole culture is very inappropriate and disturbing.
I learned while reading this article, that discrimination is all over! Of course, I knew that, but going deeper and noticing how people on social media can judge you based on your personality and looks creates their new image, on information that they don’t even know.
I selected the article “Black Immigrants Are an Important Part of the US Immigrant Experience” to convey the similarity. This article explains how black immigrants are treated the same because of their skin color. This article results in how many black immigrants overcame the struggle of growing up being labeled as what they would call a “typical black kid,” being treated as less of a person without the chance of getting to know one another. Many kids and adults are struggling to be who they are because there’s someone with higher authority belittling them.
