1 . Some examples of new literacies are social media, computers, and the internet
2. All of the listed new literacies were around what I expected. I was not surprised.
3. I did not realize how much technology has affected the classroom. It is becoming an essential part of our lives and it was interesting to read about how students and teachers are also learning how it can be better translated in the classroom. Even the subject of how video games should be used for teaching and learning critical skills. The reading notes how the landscape of reading is changing from traditional books to online articles and videos. I liked how they noted that this was not a bad thing and that people still need to be critical in how they navigate the online landscape.
4. Branching logic was not a term I was familiar with, however it makes sense when I consider how we use technology where sub-options are given from options. I was interested by Belshaw defining that we need to think of digital literacy was as plural rather than as a single thing.
5. Computers played a major role in my education. Being homeschooled and growing up during the rise of technology and the internet, I spent hours watching educational YouTube videos, reading articles, and talking with friends online. I 100% think in my case, the computer replaced the book for me growing up. It allowed me to gain skills that I would take into my later years to read more advanced books.
6. I was always the tech savvy person, teaching my parents how to operate their smartphones or helping them sign up for FaceBook. In my family, the younger generation grasp technology easier than the older.
7. I hate to say it, but the smartphone is undoubtedly something I and most people can not live without. It has replaced the newspaper and is my primary source for keeping in contact with our loved ones.
