- Some examples of new literacies are communicating with people online, photos, videos, podcasts and anything that has to do with information on the internet.
- None of the examples surprised me because i’m familiar with all of them. However, I didn’t know some of them are considered literacies such as photos and podcasts.
- After reading this week’s material I learned about the concept and definition of new literacies. I learned that literacies change overtime as we gain access to new technologies that allow us to effortlessly receive new information.
- After listening to this week’s ted talk I learned that literacy comes in many forms, and we shouldn’t categorize people into two groups – literate and illiterate. Some people navigate new literacies better while others prefer to stick to the old ways.
- New literacies that helped me with schooling the most are videos and online research. There are explanation videos on pretty much every topic in the world, so every time I have difficulties understanding assigned material I look it up on youtube and usually there’s tons of videos explaining it in a way that is easy to understand.
- I don’t know anyone who isn’t well versed in new literacies, so I never had to help anyone with technology.
- One of the new literacies I can’t live without is texting. Communicating with people online is something I do constantly throughout the day and I can’t imagine my life without it, especially during the pandemic
