After reading the article “The Potential and Promise of Latino Students” discuss one new thing you learned about the Latino population. Be specific and explain your thoughts and reactions regarding what you read and learned. One thing I learned about Latino population “Latino students with undocumented parents experience higher levels of poverty, lower levels of educational attainment, and greater dependence on social services than Latino children with U.S.-born parents.36 One can only imagine the psychological toll of sitting in school all day wondering if your parents will be there when you return home”. Which means that most American government immigration services can just show up. But currently this is nothing new I learned but I do know that people as immigrants have rights. Their is a low level of education because very one back in their country has to help their family with money so they have to work so also they leave school. Sometimes all they get to is elementary or 8th grade.

Hispanics and Latinos aren’t the same thing, as stereotypes, not all of us are immigrants. Not all Latinos and Hispanics are on welfare. Sometimes we’re mislabeled. Other then being called Hispanics or Latinos that’s we should call them by their family origin. Which I totally agree. We all have stereotypes. We all portray and think of someone differently. We all see each other the way we want too see them.
