1)What did you learn from the “Arab and Other Middle Eastern Americans” article? Be specific and provide examples from the reading.
What I learned from the “Arab and Other Middle Eastern Americans” Arab Americans share broadly similar histories of immigration and reception in the US, their origins, faiths, languages and cultures are diverse. Many would not necessarily consider themselves a ‘minority’, preferring to see themselves as part of the mainstream, while still seeking recognition of their communities. Arabic-speaking countries arrived in the US in three distinct waves. The first wave was between 1890 and 1920. The second wave came after the Second World War. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state and local fair employment agencies also documented a signicant increase in the number of charges alleging. Therefore there’s a lot discrimination, differences between each culture. People started migrating. And they still currently today going through some of the same things. For example “ Arab and Middle Eastern Americans have repeatedly surrendered spikes in hate crime” which they are still going through discrimination. Another example “ Trump stoked further negative sentiment against Arab and Middle Eastern Americans at the end of 2018, with his push to build a wall along the US border with Mexico.” Which Trump didn’t want any of the Middle East to enter. He spearfish false information.

2) Discuss something you learned and/ or can relate to from 1-2 of this week’s videos.

Well I can relate to the videos due to not to me but my siblings they were surrounded by so much American people when they had recently came from Mexico when they were 14years old. They went through discrimination. They also didn’t speak English. They crossed the boarder. Just like middle eastern college students video.

3) Discuss the article on “Literacy Reform in the Middle East.” Provide examples from the reading.
Literacy rates of smaller and wealthier Arab countries are generally highly. The policymakers focus on the poorest and largest countries. For example ‘ countries with education problems often face challenges such as health , poverty , and political. Literacy reform can lead to creation to new jobs and construction of new school and libraries. There for it’s a reform to help.

4) Share your source on this topic–let us know what it is, why you selected it, and why it matters.

I choose this because Arab people were unexpected as said in the video. They weren’t ready for the discrimination coming in during schools as their population grew. It matters because this still happens today just like currently The issues in the US.
