I’ll be writing about background history about a specific group of people. And figure out their school rates , any discriminations and any other information that is easy to think about due to learning about a group and who they are and what they do . The main focus of my essay is how they learned how to read and write and if the group has been successful or difficult for them. And how have they achieved to be better. I selected hispanics due to their education and didn’t do well . I want to learn more about them and how they are educated. And adding a bit of background on how we’re treated . I selected this because hispanic and latinos people suffer and they do have hard times and they don’t have the best education. I will also search test scores , number of people that go to school and they do become better with time .
- White and Asian students continue to do better on tests than black and Latino students, says the U.S. Department of Education.
- I show that the children of immigrants drive the growth in Hispanic test scores and that the speed of convergence for immigrant Hispanics is quite rapid.
- Latinos make up only 23 percent of the county’s junior class; they represent 54 percent of the 942 students who failed to pass the English exam last school year.
All of these 3 examples prove what people have an idea of these groups of people . And how many kids have failed an exam. And they wouldn’t know why .
I’m describing my project as hegemonic because they don’t have any voice for them to speak for themselves due to their education. They aren’t looked at the same if you were looking at a white person or a person who speaks perfect english. The majority of the group don’t speak english
I can relate this to week 9 due to it being Latino and Hispanic perspective’s information. A few videos relating to what it means being Latino and Hispanic. Literacy is not only about reading and writing but what makes us who we are
We should care because we should learn about each other’s background or other people’s history. I think it is important to know what type of people surround our community. I’m Hispanic and I want to learn more .
