  1. Has the Black community truly been afforded equal access to literacy necessary to be successful in contemporary America? Reference Richard Wright’s “The Library Card” and any other sources, including your own experience, if you wish.
In my opinion no they have no equal literacy access to literacy to be successful. They were poor. They collected everything they can for money such as collecting cans. They look for jobs looking for freedom. He had to be respecting to white man use words as sir and etc. Richard wanted ti learn how to read and write. He wouldn’t look up being the only black man in the library. They were let down due to Richard having big books and people digging him due to the books having big words.
  2. How can we help establish more equality for the Black/ African-American community in the US?  The way we can help establish equality is by us starting by giving equality. Treat others the way we want to be treated. Making more protest. Be treated the way. There being help for people. Government giving some money for those in need. Their being more job opportunities.
3.What is the argument in the article titled “With COVID, the African-American Literacy Crisis will get much worse”? Support your answer with evidence from the text, and with your own thoughts on this topic. The article was due to there being a low literacy. Low levels of reading . Since Covid happened a lot of kids went down in grades due to remote learning. Kids got lazy. Teachers had also a fault in teaching. They weren’t teaching the way they were suppose too. Some didn’t understand. They had to do better. The schools wanted smaller classrooms, engage them in more material, making them feel safe. Which sometimes they have no motivation for things. But sometimes it isn’t event anyone’s fault but the parents. Their parents should be on top of the education and should be there for them the way their suppose to.
