Discuss the article on “Literacy Reform in the Middle East.” Provide examples from the reading.?
The history of literacy in the Middle East and the challenges that the region faces in achieving universal literacy. I understand that the argument is how literacy reform is essential for the economic and social development of the Middle East. One of the challenges that the Middle East faces in achieving universal literacy is the high rate of illiteracy among women. In some countries, the illiteracy rate among women. The high rate of illiteracy among women is due to a number of factors, including poverty, conflict, and gender discrimination. Poverty is a major factor in illiteracy, as families who cannot afford to send their children to school are more likely to have illiterate children. Conflict also contributes to illiteracy, as schools are often closed during times of conflict. Gender discrimination is also a factor in illiteracy, as girls are often less likely to be sent to school than boys.

Hey Sullivan,
I enjoyed reading your post. I read the link you shared and found it interesting to learn about the education system in Arab countries and how it differs from ours. It seems super rigid, but I guess it has contributed towards higher literacy rates so to an extent it seems to be working.
