- I learned from this week’s new literacy video and reading was that new literacy helped expand the opportunity to learn and connect with others through technology. I agree with the process of teachers guiding students to be aware that false information will be presented as the truth online. I also learned the eighth elements of digital literacy are cognitive, constructive, communicative, civic, critical, creative, confidence, and cultural. It is interesting that the elements all started with the letter “C”. I liked the fact that he used visual example for the viewers. I can say I am one of those that like seeing images while learning a subject.
- I choose “Literacy is the ability to use printed and written information to function in society, to achieve one’s goals, and to develop one’s knowledge and potential” because I agree, at some point in life we had to hand over a resume to be to grow and mature our life for a better future. It brought along understanding how the world is altering around us and without a job we probably won’t be able to succeed. One’s knowledge can be found in a reading or by an experience.
- We can apply their definitions into new literacies because being able to proceed into what literacy brings along into our daily life is already hard enough to ignore as it is being used to educate students threw new tech, not only that it helps us commutate with our families, friends and business. It’s part of our social practice and element of education.
- Communication technology is an example of a “new literacy” that is helping me threw out this semester. It gives me the opportunity to stretch out my time, every morning I would have been spending an hour or more trying to get school. Instead, I use that time to study and do things life has thrown at me. It gets beneficial needing to earn money gets into play, also when you no longer have any of your favorite jeans clean. It all comes down to how the timing was used during the days of the week, I can prep a homework and bounced to a class meeting without a footstep. It helps me have freedom, more stability, and confidence.
- I think a lot of us can relate dealing with someone that’s not tech savvy like our parents. I helped both my parents with their phones, car computers problems, printer problems, and Microsoft word. Its great showing them the first and second time but maybe on the third round, you start questioning yourself whether they’re asking/want to learn, or they just want you to do it. It’s pretty funny. And again, they didn’t grow up with technology like I did.
- One “new literacies” I cannot live without is “digital literacy” in regard to communication technology because I tend to watch lots of videos over the internet and read information on varies reports. Also, proving my point threw studies done by doctors that I intentionally mention to help improve the life of others for longevity. This being taken away can somehow imbalance my life. It is a part of me that provides an extra hand for me to be me, as it already grown with me.
