Literacy is defined as the capacity to read, write, and comprehend a variety of texts. It requires not just fundamental decoding abilities, but also comprehension and interpretation of the information supplied. Literacy is essential for successful communication, information access, and participation in all parts of society. According to my study, literacy is a complicated skill that includes the capacity to decode written language, comprehend its meaning, critically assess information, and effectively convey ideas through writing. Literacy in today’s digital age includes digital abilities such as the capacity to explore, assess, and produce material in online contexts. Literacy, according to John Trischitti, is “the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate, compute, and use printed and written materials associated with varying contexts.” He highlights the larger spectrum of literacy, which encompasses not just traditional reading and writing abilities, but also their application in many circumstances. Trischitti feels literacy is vital because it allows people to actively participate in society, make educated decisions, and engage with their surroundings. I agree with Trischitti’s assessment of literacy. Literacy in today’s quickly changing world extends beyond basic reading and writing abilities. Understanding and communicating successfully in a variety of situations, including digital platforms, is critical for success. Literacy gives people the tools they need to explore information, think critically, and express themselves, all of which are important abilities in a knowledge-driven society.
