Open Source Software: The OpenLab at BMCC is powered by Commons In A Box OpenLab (CBOX OpenLab), free and open source software that allows anyone to launch a commons for open learning. CBOX OpenLab was created through a partnership between two initiatives based at the City University of New York (CUNY): the CUNY Academic Commons’ Commons In A Box (CBOX) community-building software and City Tech’s OpenLab platform for teaching, learning, and collaboration. All have at their core the widely-used open source blogging, publishing, and social networking platforms WordPress and BuddyPress.
