The New York Tenement Experience is a student project that my class mates, Geraldine Sinclair, Austin Young, Jailene Hernandez and I created for our Contemporary Media course. My team and I spend the whole semester researching and learning about The Tenement Museum and its impact in the lives of many immigrants in New York City. We aimed to promote awareness and empathy towards newcomers by drawing connections between the past and present, specifically in terms of living conditions and culture. We accomplished all of our project goals by pouring all of our writing skills, artistic talents and creativity into this project. Although as a team we faced many obstacles and disagreement in the beginning, we managed to learned how to communicate with one another and work together. Not only were we content with the outcome of our project and the experience we gained while working on it but we were content to have had the opportunity to worked along side other to create such an important and meaningful project.
