Q1
MKL believed that when a law can uplift human personality, respect human dignity, and establish equal social relations, then it is just law. Furthermore, just law requires legislators to abide by it as well. Therefore, if the law degrades human personality, grants privileges to oppressors, and legislators force minority groups to obey the law while they themselves do not, then it’s unjust.
Q2
Just and unjust law affect individuals differently. Under just law, people have a clearer understanding of their rights and know that they are protected, thus enabling them to live freely. Under unjust laws, people are denied the freedom to choose their own lifestyles or such as education, and may even face violence. In politics, when the law is unjust, it will almost certainly lead to nonviolent action and protest like those in the MLK case. If nonviolent action fail to bring justice, they will eventually result in violent conflict.
Q3
There is curfew for minors in California, which is unjust law. It supports MLK’s idea that unjust law makes legislators force minority groups to obey the law while they themselves do not. Because minors do not have the right to vote. The government has passed a ban on any form of gender discrimination in any federally funded educational institution as an example for just law, because it supports MLS’s idea about just law uplifts human personality
