1- southern politicians used law and order to make it seem like white supremacy was normal . They used it as a code language to make their point across without making it sound extremely racist . It is their way of choosing what huge privilege and keeping other ethnic groups in struggling communities or lives so they can continue to enjoy their privilege without being checked . This also protected their power to a certain exint because even though they were racist they didn’t have to be transparent about it so therefore they used masked words to justify how they wanted to run their political beliefs. 

2-yes I believe that it’s still 100 percent an issue even worse in today’s age because we have a lot of politicians using words like “illegal aliens” to describe people that moved to the US for better living conditions . This is extremely dehumanizing and racially motivated even though it isn’t directly related to harsh racist words. 

 It’s an issue not only toward black people as our country has had a lot of different backgrounds and ethnic groups. I will use religion as an example : a lot of Muslims people experience racist because of the stereotypes and racist beliefs that were thought of by people from countries like Palestine. This is a huge issue because a covered person could be called a terrorist just because they may be covered to serve their god they will experience a lot of hatred due to the ignorance.
