The lower-middle class wrote the constitution. The poor class was excluded and not allowed to participate in the process. Only the rich were allowed to vote for change in the constitution of vie for political position. For example, all native Americans, persons of African descent, women, poor white males, and indentured servants were excluded. Also, ‘… a member of the New jersey legislature had to be worth at least 1000 pounds…’

Yes, the same social class that existed in the early United States is the same today. The rich control of political positions. They determined how wealth and other resources were to be distributed to the public.

During the initial steps of writing the constitution, the poor community had less political influence. The rich feared that the lower-middle-class communities would benefit from democracy and therefore they preferred to enrich themselves instead of taking into consideration the needs of the society as a whole.
