hello, as i am currently typing this, its 7:33 pm eastern time in ny. as of today. a week or 2 ago , an immigrant was pulled from Wyckoff hospital when seeking treatment by ice officers. something that didn’t make sense to me is on why this immigrant had to be violently drag out of the hospital. i couldn’t understand point of that, morally and lawfully. to me it didn’t seem like he was resisting or doing anything morally wrong. me bring up this story is related to the topic of my post, which is everyday politics regarding immigration. when trump got elected in 2016, immigration hate began to ramp up and labels started to be put on to innocent immigrants. like for example and black and brown immigrants were labeled thugs, drug dealers, and rapist by trump and his administration and supporters. at that time people in America were feeling worried where this would lead to, now fast forward in 2026, so far ice raid and protesters are getting harmed by ice officers and police when protesting against ice raids. something i don’t get as an eco major is what is this doing for us profit wise. as of today gas prices are up and unemployment has still not decreased. this was something trump said would go away when deporting all these “violent immigrants”. i still see on my fyp weather on tik tok or twitter ,American people are still complaining about gas prices and unemployment that was promised to go away with the trump administration stating that. so with this in mind what is the point of these ice raids, if its not profitable for America and not bringing new jobs, whats the purpose. another thing that i feel is important to note, as of recently in 2025, ice agents started to hang out side the court hears for immigrants just so when their denied, their pulled straight to a detention center and deported. i feel like with that in mind and the kidnappings of immigrants by ice agents, what would this lead to. it could possibly lead to legal immigrants next or even citizens to be grabbed and put in a detention center. if illegal immigrants could get their rights violated and dragged from a hospital who’s to say it can’t happen to you next. it seems like to me illegal immigrants in America are getting their civil rights violent without clear purpose besides instilling fear among the American public and the immigrants living in America.
