week 1 discussion

In the Langston Hughes story “Salvation” we can see a young boy expressing what his experience was like to be saved. As this did not happen in the church to take his step of faith, that he recognized the Lord as his saviour because he wanted first to experience that Jesus appear to save him from his sin. In the story you can see how he felt when waiting for something to happen that did not happen and this caused his faith to be questioned, but he decided to take the step of faith at the altar to look good with the congregation or members of the but not because the church felt ready to take the step. Also, here we see how Langston is frustrated by  lying and confessing that he had been saved. This usually happens very often that adults usually tell their experience to young people when they take their step of faith and if young people do not experience the same they put their faith in doubt, They get frustrated and stop believing and their perception of this epiphany changes as for religion.
