I originally wanted to try and draw myself as a Simpsons character, but ended up drawing inspiration by remembering my old Nintendo Mii character and Mr.Potato Head from Toy Story. I found the process easier when looking at a picture of myself for reference. The easy parts were creating the face outline, nose and eyes. But after those pieces, it took me some time to get comfortable with the Direct Selection tool to manipulate the shapes into the remaining parts of my face. The mustache and my hair were a bit difficult for me. I was able to get them close to my intentions after messing with the Direct Selection tool and dragging certain corners to exaggerate curves.
