Nasser Ali Discussion 1

Hi, my name is Nasser Ali, but I usually go by Nas with people I know personally. I like to read, and I love art and music! I enjoy writing and playing the piano. I value personal relationships, forming connections, and working to positively contribute to the community. I hope to find a career that fits me, one that supports my dream of making life and the world easier for current and future generations. I go by he/they. I’ve always wanted to take this course and I would like to expand my knowledge and be more conscientious regarding different genders. Some examples of things I hope we cover would be the gender identity of intersex individuals, the sexualization of female ethnic groups in the United States, and the gender spectrum of Indigenous groups. a film that I know of that could be helpful in this course is called “The Hunting Ground”.

P.S: For some reason, my original post wasn’t published, so I went ahead and re-published it.

    Hi Nas,

Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed reading your response. Although I’ve never taken this particular class I have taken gender women’s studies classes before so I think you’re really going to enjoy it. I also value personal relationships a lot I think they’re very important and influential throughout life. You can really learn a lot from people. I wish you the best of luck in this class and with any career you choose to pursue!

Thanks, Nas. I really appreciate your list of things you would like to discuss. Though there won’t be a specific lesson, I do think we will cover most of those areas. And The Hunting Ground is an excellent film – thanks for reminding me of it.

    Hi Nasser,

Thank you for sharing with us! I noticed we share some of the same values and interests. My friendships and bonds with my sister and parents are super valuable to me and I find that they bring more meaning into my life. I also really love art and music and find that music is one outlet I could really express myself through, maybe you could relate.
