Nicolas Alonso Discussion 13

Pablo Picasso- Guernica

I chose this because it was a reaction to the war that was going on during that time. I believe it was during world war 2. The painting includes a woman screaming, and a dead baby being held by a screaming mother. I feel like this whole painting depicts what it was like to live during the war and how devastating it was. I wouldn’t say it’s disturbing to view but it makes me feel uneasy. Also, the artist chose gray tones which makes it feel more uncanny.

When I look at this photo I can see alot is going on. Some of the charaters in photo look stressed, things are broken and just dont look good. I can image that This how some people felt inside that this is whats happening in the world.

I could tell that war was described in this image. I loved that you noticed the grey color that was being used in this image which describes dead bodies. the color of Dead bodies turned blue after a few days which was extremely scary and means that people were thrown dead during the war for more than one day.

One of the really cool things about abstract art I think, is the longer you look at it the more things you notice and it can be interpreted by the viewer in so many different ways. Looking at this piece I can almost hear the panic it’s trying to portray in the scene. Because of the art style it almost off a ghostly vibe of people’s souls leaving their bodies especially with the color palette used.

    Hi Nicolas,

This is such an interesting piece and I’ve never seen it before. I looked at it in depth and I also feel uneasy, it definitely depicts what it was like to live through that time/war. It’s cool that you mentioned the grey tones because I didn’t notice how important that is to the painting.
