After finished reading The Macho Paradox, I feel sad for the generations growing up with accessible free porn videos. It is harmful and unhealthy products from the toxic sex/rape culture also it impacts their ideas about sex. Would people learn sex from porn today or people have sex first then they would form the idea about sex? Would they enjoy it naturally or they enjoy it just because that they were being told by the porn they watched that’s the best?
A few decades the mainstream opinions pay more attention on prostitutes, girls who involved with porn or even it is a private sex-tape. The mainstream focus on how girls turning “bad” but never question what motivate the porn market. Because they know the reason–the reason is that there is huge profit behind this industry also men would always pay/welcome it. Wherever the profit is, wherever the market is. Since it is the culture under patriarchy, of course the attention would be removing from men to women as usual. That’s why women became the one to be blaming and taking the shame.
Another concern is, how much influence that these sex-violence content related porn would lead to real sex violence in reality? How much it would impact people’s mind about treating women after watching these dehumanized girls and women porns? Private personal sex life is always a grey zone to discuss about-how to identify the sex-violence while it was happening during sex? And according to the chapter I read, even during the processing of making porn, girls and womens would probably face uncomfortable sex-related acting/actions would cause body pain and mental pain too. How to protect girls and women’s rights in their personal sex lives or when they working at sex/sex content industries?
