These past few weeks have been very interesting to me in many ways. The class has allowed me to reconsider everything I knew and helped in opening my eyes towards certain aspects. By reading the material provided it has helped me truly understand what Feminism is. I used to have a certain understanding of it but now I feel like my understanding of it has been better. Especially when it came down to talking about privilege. The material made me realize just how much privilege plays a role in one’s life as well as made me realize how a lot of us intentionally or do not take many things for granted. Having privileges isn’t necessarily bad, I think what makes it made is when we use it as a weapon to bring others down. On the contrary, we can use privilege to help those around us. We can work and fight towards the change that we want.

Hi Sofia,
Most definitely after carefully analyzing most of the aspects this course has allowed us to focus on I would most definitely say that these articles, discussions has not only opened my eyes about these crucial topics but its also Ade me respects everyone else’s perspective on said topics.
Hey Sofia,
I totally agree with the point you made about privileges, and although I can’t remember which week it was that discussion we had about how everyone has some sort of privilege really changed my view of things. It was something I hadn’t considered before, and just like you said “we can use our privilege to help those around us.”
you’re so right ,having privilege isn’t inherently bad, what counts is what we DO with that privilege. It can be used to help and uplift others, or to harm and oppress. Especially in this chaotic day and age and messed-up state of the U.S., it’s never been more important for us to utilize whatever privilege we have to help those suffering.
I agree with you about White privilege because the privilege is not always the white person knows that he is privileged or because he is doing the racism on other black people. Many of them are born into white families that do not teach their children about racism, about the correct way to treat others for having a darker color and that we are all human beings and have the same value. You are no more than me, just because you look different or come from a different family.
Hey, I definitely agree that it isn’t bad to have or be privileged but at least be aware of it and use it to help others. It’s annoying when people know they have a huge ton of privilege and refuse to acknowledge it and they try to victimize themselves.
