IMANE CHAABA
I honestly enjoyed the readings of this week, Katz Jackson pointed out chapter ten from his book some serious questions about how the way men in the pornography industry treat young girls and prostitutes influence the way they treat women in general. He confirmed that these types of questions are the ones that most people are not ready to hear their answers to. Women have been objectified through the past and have been suffering in silence while the number of rape is leveling up in our society. Pornography is such a harmful industry where women’s rights are being disrespected. Women’s sexual freedom is being victimized and men are doing nothing but degrading women’s rights. It was very difficult to read about what happened to those young ladies who have been played and scammed by men in the “BangBus” series. It is a shame to see these men taking advantage of the fact that girls are willing to give everything for money and this is exactly what Clair Golberg Moses talked about in her article. Golberg Moses mentioned that women in the past centuries have been socialized separately from men and disrespected by laws. It was no room for women in education, the workplace, or even banks to get some financial help which lead them to sell themselves as an object. It was never women’s fault as many of us think, it was society’s fault for letting this men’s domination take full control. She also talked about how the media played a huge role in this case by misrepresenting the image of feminists. Feminists should be represented as powerful, courageous women who stand up for their rights, not women who are looking for attention or have no future or mental issues.
