Discussion One intro

Hello fellow Classmates & Prof Waychoff my name is Alpha Diallo. I’m 20. I was born in September. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York most of my life. I’m majoring In Health science. It is an interesting major to me. Studying and learning about different subjects of health is what I look forward to doing this year. Other than worrying about school. I have some other hobbies that keep me occupied. Things such as skateboarding, painting, reading and cooking or baking. Those are some of the things I value the most. I Dream to one day be a Happy healthy and wealthy adult, have a family of 2-3 kids, work in a career that helps people wellness in general. See my mother and father rest knowing I made something of myself. If I was asked who I am culturally and where I am from … I would say I’m born in America, but my parents are from Africa, and they were born there making me African. I’m a Male, my pronouns would be he him & his.

To be honest like others this class was a degree requirement and seemed better than many of my other options. Using common sense and looking at the subject I can tell I’m doing gender studies. Maybe we will be looking into the issues of sex, gender and sexuality in many ways, watching films, reading, having group conversations about certain topics is how I think we will learn about these things. Impact of Discrimination on The Development of Boys and Girl. It is something I think I should learn more about.  In conclusion I hope we learn useful information, addresses gender issues, in American society.

Thanks for the introduction, Alpha. I hope you don’t stress too much about this course. My main goal is for you to leave having a greater understanding of gender, oppression, and justice. If that happens, we have both succeeded!

Sure! My views on real-life problems have definitely changed since I was younger. With more information, we can reassess our previously held opinions and ideas to more accurately reflect our knowledge. And I think you can definitely talk to your peers about what we learn in class. That is a form of teaching, I think.

Hello Alpha, nice to meet you1 I don’t know if my previous response was posted because it doesn’t seem to appear on my screen. I enjoyed reading your introduction as well as your dream which I thought was beautiful and amazing. I’m hoping to one day be able to not only provide for my children but also my parents too when they’re older and can’t work anymore. Just like you, I am also taking this course because it was one of the few choices available to be but it also stood out the most. I can’t wait to read the material provided to us to be able to expand my understanding and knowledge on many topics and issues. Here’s to a good semester!

Iam glad you read my post and enjoyed it. Yes, that is my Dream to be the provider. I wonder what we will be reading this week, I wonder what type of discussion it will lead us to have. Will we debate, inform each other, or persuade?

Nice to meet you Alpha! I like to read and bake too. I think having hobbies to keep us occupied is very important because it is kind of like therapy. Baking makes me feel good and relaxed because it is something I love to do. I am looking forward to learning a lot from this class!
