The government was trying to get the HYE amendment illegal, even while it was an affect 33 States had the insurance not paying for abortions for a woman. “ the this is Lisa” tries to help a woman pay for their abortion. In my opinion I believe men shouldn’t have an opinion on a women’s body wether she should have a baby for get an abortion because there are many risks with pregnancy, the person could be doing drugs or can be an alcoholic and isn’t in the right state of mind to keep a baby that’s one of the many reasons. Also not being mentally stable is one of the biggest issues that many women have when they see themselves forced to get an abortion and they have no help from their family or parent or even the government.

The film “ Period. End of Sentence” it was shocking how most of the woman didn’t know what a pad was or how it was used. Also how men didn’t know what a period was many of them thought it was a disease that woman got. There was a lot of ignorance when it came to that, they weren’t properly educated not just woman but this included men also. This describes how women focused on women’s education and healthcare, as well as how the shame of menstruation endures in India’s rural communities.”12 Reasons Doctors Should Not Treat Trans People” was written in response to a particular regime proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services in 2019 that could not only make medical care for transgender people worse, but also protect the denial of health care to trans people under federal policy. It provides an overview of the rule, but what’s more interesting are the 12 responses from people who dislike it, in which they tell their tales. Dr. Dana-Ain Davis collaborated on “A Birth Story” alongside Leconté J Dill, whose story is featured, and Cheyenne Varner, who drew the piece. This piece focuses on stories delivered with words and/or imagery to address Obstetric Racism.

The article that stuck out more to me was “12 Reasons It Should Be Illegal for Doctors Not to Treat Trans People” because I wasn’t aware that rejected any type of care a trans women or men has or needs. I didn’t know that even in the medical field there is discrimination, there’s also racism that we’re not aware of.There shouldn’t be any kind of neglect towards anyone we are all the same, we bleed the same and have the same needs. Just because we don’t feel comfortable in our body we should not be treated any different than anyone else. This affects many people we shouldn’t judge someone’s identity. As a result, there is more discrimination between and among genders, as well as a significant disparity in men’s and women’s success.

When I first saw the word Identity politics I automatically thought about back in time, even though I didn’t know what it meant. I had a idea of what what it had to deal with. The word identity politics means is a tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics. In a student friendly way it means knowing and caring about a set of political concerns, having a set of organized ideas about the political system, and engaging in political behaviors that support those beliefs are all examples of political ego identification. The term “identity politics” is a bit misleading, but it generally refers to the debate and politicking over matters concerning one’s, well, identity. Women, ethnic minorities, immigrants, LGBTQ persons, and religious people , such as Muslim Americans, are frequently targeted. All of the social issues you’ve likely heard about, same-sex relationship, police shootings of unarmed black men, trans people in bathrooms, gender profiling, rape culture discussions, these are typically what people mean when they refer to identity politics.

In the reading “Too Latina to be Black” written by Aleichia Williams she speaks about her own experience that she had during her childhood and growing up. The reading “The Power of identity Politics” by Garza goes in depth on what identity politics is. The definition of it is a tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics. The United States has been out ruled since the beginning of time but white folks, mostly when it comes to politics. In the 19th century women were not allowed to vote of have the same rights that men had during this time. There was racism and feminism there were two big things during this time. Graza stated how activist had to really fight for their rights. One example Williams stated in her article “Too Latina to be Black” about America still being out ruled by the whites and having a certain stereotype for people is ” “I don’t know who to side with!” When I got into high school and a class mate told me “You’re the most Mexican black girl I’ve ever met!” I could remember thinking ‘Is that a compliment because my family is from Honduras?’ Even now as an adult I find people are constantly trying to restrict me into a specific mold and identity. My home language is Spanish so this must mean I eat tacos. I have kinky hair so this must mean I bang to Meek Mill. For many, I am too black to be Latin and too Latin to be black”. Some topics I would like to explore as a class in the remaining weeks of the semester is abortion rights. why do they want to make abortion illegal if it should be a women’s choice if she needs to get an abortion or chooses to get one for what ever reason they have.

The Combahee River Collective Statement reading was written between 1974 and 1980, the Combahee River Collective was a Black Feminist Lesbian organization. This interdisciplinary group was formed because it was felt that neither the feminism nor the civil rights movements adequately addressed the issues of Black women and lesbians. The film ” Paris is burning” by Jenny Livingston a documentary that compels viewers to confront uncomfortable questions regarding privilege, identity, and social class.Jennie Livingston directed the documentary film “Paris Is Burning” in 1990. It was produced in the mid-to-late 1980s and covers New York City’s ball culture as well as the African-American, Latino, gay, and transgender populations engaged. They have established their own revolutionary society in which they create their own families, share finances as well as housing and other necessities, and the ball world in which they can live their true identities, which are excluded from the normative worlds of womenswear, and modeling in different aspects. They’re practicing identity politics outside of the ballroom, where they’re still subjected to the persecution they’ve temporarily left behind at the balls. It’s also worth noting that politics is at play in this film. Jenny was a white lesbian lady, that is being accused of being predatory by many of those who were filmed. While reading these I was able to determine what the Combahee River collective mean by “identity politics.” Also how I saw this operating in Paris is Burning. It also focused on what did race and gender have to do with capitalism, through the massive mixing of people, diverse cultural practices, and products, capitalism introduces women and men to fresh concepts. Traditional societies that impose gender hierarchy are less oppressed by capitalism.

If black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression” we may take advantage of our position at the bottom to make a bold jump into revolutionary activity. If Black women were free, everyone else would have to be free as well, because our freedom would demand the abolition of all oppressive systems. The Combahee River Collective Statement’s goal It connects societal issues that affect women and Black people, such as sexual and racial discrimination and homophobia, to provide an essential viewpoint for progress. Through the massive mixing of people, diverse cultural practices, and products, capitalism introduces women and men to fresh concepts. Traditional societies that impose gender hierarchy are less oppressed by capitalism.

In this week I learned about the reading “The Politics of Housework” is Pat Mainardi discusses her personal experience of attempting to equalize the work of daily living with her husband in one of the most well-known early feminist works, published in 1969, and offers guidance to women who desire to share duties with their male spouses. I also learned how liberationists effectively changed how women were regarded in their cultures, defined the cultural and political roles of women in society, and reshaped mainstream society throughout the decades when the rise of feminism flourished. There has been a huge impact on women’s liberation movement that has happened throughout the years.Women have achieved huge societal advancements since 1960. Job growth has been especially impressive. I learned the definition of liberation is the act of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression; release. When you say someone is liberated, you’re referring to their refusal to follow their society’s traditional norms or behavioral constraints. There was a famous slogan I learned about which was “the person is the political” and it means the feminist notion that women’s personal experiences are founded in their political circumstances and gender injustice.Working women rose, with much of this expansion taking place in traditionally “traditionally masculine” and professional occupations. The movement’s primary purpose was women’s liberation, hence the term “women’s liberation movement.” Long-held societal norms were disrupted, and the American legal and political systems underwent enormous upheavals as a result. Political and personal are two terms that are used interchangeably. The expression “the private is political” became popular in the late 1960s as a rallying cry for the student movement and second-wave feminism.

A feminist who advocates for greater gender equality leaning towards women. A wave of liberated women opposed sexism in culture and politics in the 1960s, attempting to modify perceptions of what women should be inside and outside the house. Now the true definition of liberation is the act of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression; release. When you say someone is liberated, you’re referring to their refusal to follow their society’s traditional norms or behavioral constraints. A little bit of background on the reading “The Politics of Housework” is Pat Mainardi discusses her personal experience of attempting to equalize the work of daily living with her husband in one of the most well-known early feminist works, published in 1969, and offers guidance to women who desire to share duties with their male spouses.Liberationists effectively changed how women were regarded in their cultures, defined the cultural and political roles of women in society, and reshaped mainstream society throughout the decades when the rise of feminism flourished. There has been a huge impact on women’s liberation movement that has happened throughout the years.Women have achieved huge societal advancements since 1960. Job growth has been especially impressive. During the 1970s, the number of working women increased, with much of this growth occurring in traditionally “manly” and professional occupations. The fundamental goal of the movement was women’s liberation so the name “women’s liberation movement”. It shattered long-held societal norms and ushered in significant changes to the American political and legal systems.Personal is also referred to as political. The private is political is a political statement that was popularized in the late 1960s as a rallying cry for the student movement and second-wave feminism. It was a challenge to the nuclear family and traditional family ideals during the feminist movement of the 1960s and 1970s and both of these pieces show that. Now to explain a little bit of what the meaning of the slogan “the personal is political” means is the feminist notion that women’s personal experiences are founded in their political circumstances and gender injustice is expressed in this political slogan.Pat Mainardi contrasts in between Liberated Woman and Women’s Liberation in her book “The Politics of Housework.” Anne Koedt’s book “The Myth of the Vaginal Orgasm” asks for a rethinking of women’s sexual enjoyment.
